Maple Apple Butter
Ingredients
- 4 lbs honeycrips apples, cored and diced
- 1 1/4 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- salt
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425 F.
- In a blender, combine the apples with the apple cider and blend until smooth.
Transfer the mixture to a 9 x 13 baking dish. Add the maple syrup, vanilla,
cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt and stir to combine.
- Roast for 35 to 35 minutes. Give the apple butter a stir, and reduce the oven
temperature to 350 F.
- Continue roasting, stirring every 30 minutes, for 1 to 1 1/2 hours more,
until the apple butter is thick and golden brown. Taste and add more maple syrup
as needed.
Notes
- Store refrigerated in airtight glass jars for up to 1 month.
